Mechanism of getting rid of impaired gas cylinders approved
SANA'A, March 03 (Saba)- The Committee of Security and Safety approved in its
meeting on Tuesday a mechanism of taking out impaired gas cylinders from market and
replacing them with new.
The committee - headed by Deputy Minister of Interior Saleh al-Zawari- valued
directives of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and the Cabinet towards recommendations
of the committee to get rid of these cylinders, saying such directives reflect
concern of the political leadership and government with safety of the citizens.
President Saleh has given orders to withdraw impaired cylinders from market to avoid
risks might be caused due to these cylinders.
The General Authority for Standards and Measures has signed a contract with a
foreign company to check up new gas cylinders to make sure that they meet
international standards before entering the country.
The committee approved to follow up the mechanism to insure the market is free from
these cylinders.
It was estimated that there are around 4 million gas impaired cylinders in the market.
