Inaugural International Arabic Cochlear Implant Conference kicks-off

DUBAI, 5th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, and Chairman of the Board, Humaid Al Qutami, today inaugurated the 1st International Arabic Cochlear Implant Conference, ACIC, in Dubai. The conference provides a platform for specialists from across the world to discuss the latest advances in the field.
The two-day conference is jointly organised by the GCC ORL societies, Advanced Arab Academy of Audiology, and the Arab Academy of Otology and Cochlear Implant. The conference is attended by high-level officials including Kuwait Minister of Health, Dr. Basel Al-Sabah.
Held under the theme,"Together, hearing is better", the conference emphasises that hearing has a significant impact on the physical, emotional, social health of an individual. It also highlights that the promotion of hearing health in the population requires concerted action of many stakeholders within the health sector as well as several others, including those in the social, education and welfare sectors.
Al Qutami said, "In line with the vision of our leaders, the DHA will continue to focus on provision of specialised care across all fields. Early detection, regular screening, and advances in medicine are important factors to prevent hearing loss."
