Egyptian President opens Gaza conference

Sharam-al-sheikh, Egypt, March 02, SPA -- Egyptian President Hosni
Mubarak opened here today the international conference on
reconstruction of Gaza strip in the presence of heads, foreign
ministers and delegations from 87 countries, regional and
international organizations.


The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the conference is
led by Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister.


Speaking on the occasion, President Mubarak praised the generous
donation of $1 billion announced by the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for the reconstruction of Gaza,
and said this donation constitutes a nucleus for mobilizing Arab and
international contributions for the reconstruction of the Gaza strip.



Mubarak underscored the importance of exerting all possible efforts
for the reconstruction of Gaza and hoped that the conference would
yield positive results for boosting the Palestinian economy.


Mubarak noted that Gaza is an indivisible part of the occupied
territories and it along with the west bank constitutes the project
of the independent Palestinian state.
