Iran, Turkey call for expansion of relations

Tehran, March 2, IRNA -

Visiting Turkish Minister of Roads, Transportation and
Telecommunication Binali Yildirim conferred on Sunday with First Vice
President Parviz Davoudi on expansion of mutual relations.

According to the Information Bureau of the Presidential Office, at the
meeting, Davoudi highlighted the excellent status of Iran and Turkey
at regional and international levels and said since the entire world
has been affected by economic meltdown, it is incumbent for Iran and
Turkey to expand mutual cooperation to attain more development.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to expand all-out ties and
cooperation with Turkey, Davoudi said.

There are huge potentialities in both countries to materialize the
goal, he said, adding that the two sides should spare no efforts to
this effect, he said.

Davoudi also lauded the principled and humanitarian stands adopted by
Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Gaza.

The Turkish minister, for his part, said the two sides' officials are
determined to help maintain the growing ties between the two neighbors
and termed the outcome of his meetings with senior Iranian officials
as very fruitful.

Calling the two sides' relations as developing, he said the two
countries should spare no efforts to promote their friendly
cooperation to meet the two sides' interests.

Current level of trade exchange between Iran and Turkey is
satisfactory, he said.
