UNHCR agreed with Qatar Charity on supporting Somalis in Yemen

SANA'A, Mar. 01 (Saba) - UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
signed here on Sunday with the Qatar Charity an agreement of
partnership for supporting the UNHCR's programs for Somali refugees
in Yemen.

According to the agreement, Qatar Charity presents $250,000 to
purchase relief stuff for the new Somali refugees expected to arrive
in Yemen during March - November 2009.

In the signing ceremony, UNHCR's representative in Yemen Claire
Bourgeois praised the support presented by Qatar Charity, hoping
continuing the partnership with the charity and strengthening the
cooperation areas to cover more fields in all over the world.

UNHCR will begin during the current March in collaboration with
Yemeni government recounting and registering the Somali refugees in
Yemen and issuing cards for them to unify the statistics, Bourgeois
made clear.

For his part, member of Qatar Charity's board Abdul Wahab al-Mosleh
expressed his thanks and appreciation to Yemeni government and
people for hosting Somali refugees, indicating that the Charity
would work on strengthening cooperation and partnership areas with
UNHCR to carry out projects and programs for the refugees whether in
Yemen or any other country.
