Political leadership concerns to support women political
SANA'A, Feb. 01 (Saba)- Prime Minister Ali Mujawar said on Sunday
that the political leadership represented by President Ali Abdullah
Saleh concerns to support women issue and their hopes.
Addressing second round of central council of the Yemen Women Union,
Mujawar said that the political leadership concerns to give space
for women to take part in the social and economic development in the
society, affirming importance of women political empowerment.
He pointed out to the initiative of president Saleh to allocate 15
percent of seats in parliament and Shoura council for women, saying
that the government would work together with all to support the
union to achieve hopes of women to improve their incomes and raise
awareness among society about rights of women.
Mujawar also pointed out that the third five-year plan for economic
and social plan included programs that meet development needs for
women.
The prime minister also said that the partnership between the
government and the civil society organizations to run the
development should be based on transparency and credibility as well
as creating good climate to bring this partnership into success.
He called on the civil society organizations including the union to
support efforts of the government to enhance women empowerment and
leadership capacities for women to play active role to support
programs of combating poverty.
Meanwhile, Mujawar opened on Saturday first women cultural and sport
festival which was organized by the women department at the ministry
of youths and sport in cooperation with different civil society
organizations. The festival will last for one week.
