Iran, Syria hold 2nd round of talks




Tehran, March 1, IRNA ?

The second round of Iran-Syria formal talks started here on Sunday
with participation of the two countries' delegations.

First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi and visiting Syrian Prime Minister
Mohammad Naji al-Atri are heading the two countries' delegations to
the meeting.

The Syrian premier, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in
Tehran on Friday on a three-day official visit to meet with several
senior Iranian officials on issues of mutual interests.

Following up of the previous agreements inked by the two sides, as
well as establishment of Iran-Syria joint bank, and new documents on
bilateral cooperation will top the agenda of this round of bilateral
talks.

Several cabinet ministers and senior officials of the two countries
are attending the talks.

Davoudi and Atri are to attend a joint press conference later today to
announce the outcome of the visit to Tehran by the Syrian delegation.

The two sides are also to ink five documents on bilateral cooperation
in various fields before the joint press conference.

The Syrian prime minister is to leave Tehran for the historical city
of Shiraz this afternoon.
