Economic sanctions on Iran did not work

Tehran, March 1, IRNA -

Secretary-General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization said Saturday
that economic sanctions on Iran did not work, calling for diplomatic
exchanges to reach a settlement on Iranian nuclear program.

Bolat Nurgaliyev told Indian newspaper 'Asian Age' that settling
Iran's nuclear dispute is impossible through economic sanctions or
threat or force.

He said that the international community could not drive Iran to isolation.

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia and China are
members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Iran, India and
Pakistan enjoy observer status.
