Yemen, WB sign grant agreement of $35 mln
SANA'A, Feb. 25 (Saba) - Yemen and World Bank (WB) signed here on
Wednesday an agreement of $ 35 million to support the government's
efforts to tackle consequences of the heavy-rains hit in Hadramout
and Mahrah governorate last October.
The agreement stipulated that WB offers a financing grant of $35
million dedicated for carrying out two projects in agricultural and
road sectors in the two governorates.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi and the head of the WB's team
Samih Wahbah.
After signing the agreement, al-Arhabi praised the WB's keenness on
propping up the government efforts to overcome the disaster's
impacts through accelerating offering the grant.
The WB official highlighted the government's efforts to deal with
the impacts of the rainstorm and floods stricken in Hadramout and
Mahrah governorates, asserting the WB's willingness to enhance its
current and future cooperation relations with Yemen.
Earlier, Undersecretary of Planning and International Cooperation
Ministry for Project Programming Sector Abdullah al-Shater said that
the government will contribute to $ 5 million in the two
agricultural and road projects the WB finances.
