Al-Arhabi: SFD to continue support for Yemeni music heritage projects
SANA'A, Feb. 23 (Saba)- Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Kareem al-Arhabi said that the Social Fund for Development SFD would continue to offer support for the future projects of the Yemeni music heritage and all efforts to document oral heritage.
In a ceremony held on concluding UNESCO project of preserving Sana'a songs and
opening audio library at the Yemeni Music Heritage Center, al-Arhabi highlighted
efforts exerted by the Yemeni side along with UNESCO, French and Japanese sides to
document Yemeni songs especially Sana'a songs by establishment of the center and
supplying it with equipment.
The audio library includes records for big collections of Sana'a songs which would
help researchers in studying the Yemeni music.
The Minister of Culture Mohammed al-Mafalhi said that the library was organized in
accordance with modern scientific measures of documentation.
Al-Mafalhi emphasized importance of the library and finalize next phase to enhance
its role to be key source for all who are interesting in Yemeni music heritage.
