Saleh, al-Asad hold official talks in Damascus
DAMASCUS, Feb. 23 (Saba)- Yemen and Syria held official talks on Monday co-chaired by President Ali Abdullah Saleh and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Asad over fields of mutual cooperation between the two countries in different political, cultural, investment and security levels.
The two leaders also discussed the current regional and international developments
of common concern in the top of which is the Arab-Israeli conflict and means of
enhancing Arab solidarity within recent Kuwait summit resolutions as well as
arrangements for holding coming Arab summit that would be held in Doha.
Syrian's president confirmed support for his country for the Yemeni initiative of
realizing the Palestinian conciliation to serve the just issue of the Palestinian
people, highlighting role of Yemen in realizing Arab-Arab conciliation.
President Saleh affirmed a key role of Syria and Egypt to achieve the conciliation
in addition to Turkey.
He also pointed out to the importance of the Palestinian conciliation before
holding Doha summit in order to establish Palestinian unity government to rebuild
Gaza and end siege on it.
The both leaders affirmed concern of boosting brotherly relations between the two
countries.
President Saleh headed on Monday for Syria on the first leg of an overseas trip that
will include visits to Russia, Tajikistan and Indonesia.
