Yemen to participate in forum on combat piracy
SANA'A, Feb.23 (Saba)- Deputy Interior Minister Saleh al-Zawari is to participate in the 2nd security Forum for combating piracy and terrorism to be held in the Bahraini capital Manama next Tuesday.
Upon his departure, al-Zawari said to Saba that he would present a work paper on
Yemen's efforts to fight piracy, asking countries flanking the Red Sea and the Gulf
of Aden to coordinate their endeavors for fighting the phenomenon of the piracy acts
off Somali coasts and in the Gulf of Aden through strengthening their coastguards.
The Yemeni official also pointed out that he would, during the forum, brief Yemen's
plans to develop its coastguard forces, fight piracy and terrorism through its
cooperation with the international coalition forces patrolling in the region.
