Iran's ties with IAEA, constant, transparent, accurate

Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA - Iran continued its transparent and accurate relations with the United Nations nuclear watchdog within the frameworks of international agreements, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said here on Monday.

?Our cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency is based
on the Non-Proliferation Treaty and its Safeguards Agreement,?
Qashqavi told reporters at his weekly press conference.

He said that the IAEA was conducting regular inspections from Iran?s
nuclear sites and products of the enrichment facilities.

According to Qashqavi the agency was also becoming informed of Iran?s
nuclear activities through its surveillance cameras installed at the
country?s nuclear sites and facilities.


Rejecting some allegations that Iran?s cooperation with the IAEA was
not transparent, the spokesman said, ?Nothing is concealed. We
cooperate (with the IAEA) within the NPT and everything is clear and
accurate.?

Commenting on the trial operation of Iran?s first nuclear power plant
in the southern city of Bushehr which is slated for February 25,
Qashqavi said ?Everything is underway based on our agreement with
Russians.?

Russia has helped Iran construct the 1,000-MW power plant which was
expected to become operational in fall of 2008.

Qashqavi refused to add more information on the pilot operation of the
power plant which would take place on Wednesday in the presence of
Iranian and Russian officials.

He said more details would be available in a joint press conference to
be held by head of Iran?s Atomic Energy Organization Reza Aqazadeh and
Director of Rosatom State Atomic Corporation of Russia Sergey
Kiriyenko after the ceremony to start the pilot run of the power plant.
