Tehran condemns Cairo blast

Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA - Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi on Monday condemned the terrorist operation in Cairo, Egypt, which resulted in killing and injuring of a number of innocent people.

Such measures which serve the Zionist regime are aimed at damaging
historical and cultural sites that are respected by all divine
religions, he added.

Expressing the sympathy of the Iranian government and nation with the
families of the victims of the terrorist operation, Qashqavi hoped the
injured would regain their health soon.

A bomb killed a French teenager and wounded at least 22 others in a
crowded square near a popular tourist bazaar in the Egyptian capital
of Cairo on Sunday.

According to the Egyptian Health Ministry, 13 French tourists, three
Saudis and four Egyptians had been wounded. It is also said that two
German nationals were among the injured.

The blast was the first fatal attack on tourists in Egypt since bombs
killed at least 23 people at an Egyptian resort in the Sinai peninsula
in 2006.
