QUIP Among One of World's Universities to Use Blockchain Technology

IPOH (Perak), Nov 20 (Bernama) -- Quest International University Perak (QUIP) is among one of the world's universities to issue graduates' academic certificates based on blockchain technology aimed at preventing any form of forgery. QUIP Council chairman, Vijay Eswaran said the academic certificate using the technology had serial numbers and student details that were developed in early January, the result of collaboration between students of QUIP’s Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Integrative Sciences and Technology. He said it was a great success for QUIP in spearheading success along with the rapid development of technology today. "The implementation of blockchain-based academic certificates inherited digital blockchain technology features, in addition to being safe from any form of certificate forgery. "As an academic institution that only started operating in 2011, this is an important milestone for QUIP to carve its name in the international education arena," he said at Quip’s third convocation ceremony here Monday. The convocation ceremony comprising 199 graduates from 14 programmes was officiated by Perak state Chief Minister Dr Zambry Abd Kadir. --BERNAMA
