M'SIA TO DOUBLE FUND FOR HOUSE BUYERS
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government will double the credit guarantee scheme fund for house buyers to RM100 million this year.
Housing and Local Government Minister Ong Ka Chuan said the RM50
(US$1=RM3.60) million additional fund would be disbursed through banks upon the
completion of
25,000 low-cost houses nationwide through the national economic stimulus
package.
The scheme was introduced last year with a RM50 million allocation.
Speaking to reporters after presenting aid to 1,000 families and Buddhist
devotees at a temple in Sentul here, Ong said the economic downturn prompted the
government and the private sector to join forces to build houses for the
low-income group.
