Larijani criticizes double standard policis on terrorism

Tehran, Feb 22, IRNA - Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder criticized double standard policies of certain European countries against terrorism.

He said that the European Union measure to remove Mojaheddin Khalq
Organization (MKO) from terrorist list or secret negotiations with a
number of terrorists in the region are the obvious evidence of that
policy.
In the meeting, Larijani called relations with the EU, including
Germany, growing but still with ups and downs.
Referring to the old ties and cooperation between the two countries,
Larijani said that Iran and Germany can expand relations and
cooperation in different fields upon the existing potentials.
Considering Germany's position in the EU, Larijani called for more
independent stances of the EU in international developments and
stressed that such an independent approach upon mutual interests will
have a positive role in international stability, order and security
and cause more prosperity for European nations.
In this concern, the speaker expressed Iran?s readiness for bilateral
cooperation in the economic and trade fields as well as energy with
Germany and other EU members.
Referring to the new US government with the slogan of ? Change,? the
Majlis speaker said that Iran is waiting for changes in policies and
behavior of the US and hopes that the last 8 years mistakes would not
be repeated.
He added that Iran played a positive and constructive role in recent
developments in Afghanistan and Iraq and believes taht it was in a
right direction.
Larijani said that Hamas in Palestine and Hezbollah in Lebanon entered
in national decision making arena upon popular votes of the people, so
why the west called them terrorists, while the Zionist regime, which
is a proof of state terrorism, is considered to be peace lover.
Concerning Iran?s nuclear issue, the MP said that Iran has been
committed to all international regulations and laws and that depriving
Iran of nuclear energy technology and science is something impossible.
Gerhard Schroeder, for his part, called Iran as an important and
effective country in international and regional equations .
Schroeder underlined using Iran?s energy potentials in Europe and
called the issue as an important ground for developing economic and
trade ties.
The former German chancellor said Iran?s proposal to create a nuclear
consortium is acceptable and it should be followed as an international
nuclear plan.
About Hamas in Palestine, Schroeder said that ignoring Hamas and
efforts to make them isolated during these years has been a mistake
and participation of this party in regional problems is a correct and
necessary act.
