WB to assist Yemen to overcome global financial crisis effects

SANA'A, Feb. 21 (Saba) - World Bank (WB) expressed on Saturday its
willingness to assist Yemen to overcome the effects of global
financial crisis, WB official said on Saturday.

During his meeting with President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the WB vice
president for Middle East and North Africa Region Daniela Gressani
praised the procedures and steps taken by the government in areas of
reforms, tenders and fighting against corruption.

"Such steps drove the bank to further cooperation with Yemen"
Gressani said.

For his part, the president voiced his appreciation of the advanced
level of World Bank's cooperation, reviewing the Bank's positive
role in supporting the development and economical reforms in Yemen.

The meeting discussed the cooperation aspects between Yemen and
World Bank, in addition to the effects of the global financial
crisis on Yemen.
