Yemeni-Turkish official talks held in Sana'a

SANA'A, Feb. 18 (Saba)- Yemen and Turkey held official talks on
Wednesday in Sana'a capital co-chaired by the foreign ministers of
both countries.

Foreign minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi stated to Saba that the talks
focused on means of boosting the economic and commercial relations
between the two countries in addition to enhance the cooperation in
fields of culture and education.

After the talks, the two officials held a press conference in which
al-Qirbi said that the visit of the Turkish foreign minister comes
to enhance cooperation between the two countries, adding that the
two sides discussed regional and international developments,
especially the Arab and Israeli conflict, role of Turkey in peace
process and its support for Gaza Strip.

For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan highlighted
outcomes of the recent president Saleh's visit to Turkey in boosting
ties between the two countries, saying that Yemen and Turkey are
cooperating in different issues.

He valued position of Yemen to support Turkey to get non-permanent
membership in the UN Security Council, voicing desire of Turkey to
set up investments in Yemen.

He said that the talks discussed the situation in Gaza, saying that
the reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas movements is very
important to resolve the Palestinian issue.

The Turkish minister affirmed that Turkey would do all efforts to
enhance peace process in the region.

Regarding the Turkish mediation between Syria and Israel, Babacan
said that the mediation was until 27th December of last year, and it
is not logical to hold talks and medication in time there is blood
in Gaza.

He confirmed that the political dialogue is the only way to resolve
dispute.
