Lao leader receives Vietnamese guests

Vientiane (VNA) - The Party General Secretary and State President of Laos, Choummaly Sayasone, received To Huy Rua, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPV CC), on Feb. 20.

Rua, who is also head of the CPV CC's Commission for Information and Education and
Secretary of the CPV CC, is leading a delegation to attend a seminar to commemorate
the 60th anniversary of the founding of the former joint Ha (southernmost) Lao
military base in Attapeu province.

The Lao leader congratulated the organisers on their successful joint-hosting of the
seminar, describing it as a chance to improve public awareness of the revolutionary
traditions of Vietnam and Laos , the special solidarity and fighting alliance
they forged during their past struggle for national independence, as well as their
cooperation and mutual assistance in the current causes of national defence and
construction.

He expressed his hope that the board assigned to compile a history of the
Vietnam-Laos special combat alliance fulfilled the tasks entrusted to it by the two
countries' Political Bureaus.

Rua thanked the local authorities and residents of Laos for their help in
collating documents for the compilation, and said he believed that the book would be
completed to the highest possible standards.

The official also spoke highly of the cooperation of his Lao colleagues in
undertaking the work, and affirmed that the close instructions and favourable
conditions provided by the Party leaders, governments and people of the two
countries is a huge encouragement to the board to complete the project.-Enditem
