-TURKEY-AUSTRALIA JOINT ECONOMIC COMMITTE (JEC) MEETING TO BE HELD IN CANBERRA 

ANKARA (A.A) - 20.02.2009 - Turkey-Australia Joint Economy, Commerce and Technical Committee meeting will be held in Australian city of Canberra, on February 23rd.
The meeting, which will be co-chaired by Mehmet Simsek, Turkey's State Minister in Charge of the Treasury and Australia's Trade Minister Simon Crean, will focus on ways to boost the trade volume between the two countries up to 3 billion USD.
A press release issued Friday by Turkey's Foreign Trade Undersecretariat, said a road map for economic and commercial measures covering 2010-2012 would be shaped during the meeting.
Officials of the two countries will assess possible areas of cooperation like contracting and consultancy services, agriculture, energy and transportation.

-TURKEY-AUSTRALIA TRADE RELATIONS-

The trade volume between Turkey and Australia reached 1.2 billion USD in 2008, marking a 29 percent rise compared to 2007.
Turkey's exports to Australia showed a similar trend and reached 367 million USD with a 26 percent rise from 291 million USD in 2007.
