Da Nang set to earmark 11 billion VND for the jobless

Da Nang (VNA) - The central city of Da Nang is considering an 11 billion VND
package to support local workers who lost jobs due to impacts from the global
economic crisis.

In its proposal, the Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs urged the
municipal People's Committee to put aside 1 billion VND to aid businesses that
recruit jobless workers.

The remaining sum of 10 billion VND will be channelled to the Social Policy Bank to
provide loans, worth 10 million VND each, for the unemployed to seek new jobs.

Since late 2008, more than 2,200 workers in the city have lost employment, half of
them are local residents.-Enditem
