Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) - The Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said the ministerial meeting of the League of Arab States unanimously passed a resolution supporting the unity of Iraq and refuses to hold the referendum in the Kurdistan region, confirming this is a second consensus obtained by Iraq in the League of Arab States after the first consensus in the history of Iraq, in the matter of the violation of Iraqi territory by Turkish forces.
Jaafari, after his visit to Cairo and after his participation in the ministerial meeting of the League of Arab States in the ordinary session of the 148th, according to a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said: "The referendum in the Kurdistan region violated the Constitution, which we agreed, in which we sworn the oath to abide by it, and I feel there are those who promote to get out of us, but the Kurdish people are committed and contributed to the political process and enriched it. "
"The decision of the Arab League, which pointed out that, the decision of the referendum violated the Iraqi constitution and law, was successful and called for the adoption of the resolution mechanism, and entrusted the Secretary-General of the Arab League to make efforts on this level." He added.
He made it clear that "Our rejection of the referendum does not mean that we are hostile to the Kurdish people, but in our belief that the Kurdish people are an essential part of the Iraqi people and in order to preserve the Arab-Kurdish brothers."
He pointed out that "Iraq does not intend to harm anyone, does not intend to resort to violence, does not initiate it, does not allow itself to engage in this direction; because we are entrusted with the Constitution; this does not mean to initiate a state of war."
The minister said, "Kirkuk is an Iraqi city that represents the various Iraqi communities. There are Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen and Christians. We are not prepared to give them up. We do not give up any inch of any Iraqi city because it belongs to all Iraqis,"/ End
