Forum promotes trade potential with China's Shaanxi

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese firms have been urged to exploit investment and business opportunities in China 's Shaanxi province where two-way trade is growing fast.

The call came on Feb. 16 from Shaanxi Department of Commerce deputy director Song
Min Sheng, who was at a business forum in Hanoi .

Sheng said energy, hi-tech industries and machinery and equipment were obvious areas
for "bilateral coordination."

Vietnam was considered an important trading partner of Shaanxi province, he
said. Two-way trade reached over 85 million USD last year, a 1.5 fold increase over
the previous year.

Shaanxi exports steel, electronic components, chemical products and wool garments
to Vietnam and imports coffee and cable.

A Vietnamese trade expert at the forum suggested businesses should strengthen
information exchanges, open offices and establish joint venture companies.

He also said it is time for a re-examination of trade policies and incentives for
more business from both sides.

During the forum, domestic businesses were urged to participate in the 13 th
Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China on April 5-8
in the provincial capital Xi'an .

The forum is expected to attract companies from 31 provinces, regions and
municipalities nationwide and more than 5,000 overseas businesses.

It was described as a good chance for Vietnamese enterprises to advertise their
products and establish new partnerships.-Enditem
