Iran defense minister arrives in Moscow

Moscow, Feb 17, IRNA -

Iran?s Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier
General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar heading a high-ranking delegation
arrived in Russia, late on Monday, at the formal invitation of his
Russian counterpart Anatoly Serdyukov.

Upon arrival, Mohammd-Najjar was welcomed by a number of Russian
Defense Ministry?s officials as well as Iran?s Ambassador to Russia
Mohammad-Reza Sajjadi.

He told IRNA on arrival that the international and regional
developments make Iranian and Russian officials hold talks on the
issues of mutual interests.

He said Iran and Russia are the two neighborly countries having common
opportunities.

?Iran and Russia make themselves to be responsible for ensuring peace
and stability in the region and reviewing any change in the regional
developments,? he added.

?Tehran and Moscow enjoy amicable ties which Russia?s investment in
the Bushehr Power Plant project proves it,? he said, adding that the
two nations have considerable potentials for deepening bilateral
cooperation.

?Tehran-Moscow cooperation moves towards providing security for the
region,? he said, hoping that his trip to Russia would lead to further
ties between the two countries in all-out fields, the defense issues
in particular.
