Al-Lawzi meets with AFP regional Bureau Chief
SANA'A, Feb. 16 (Saba) - Minister of Information Hassan al-Lawzi met on Monday with the regional Bureau Chief of Agence France-Presse (AFP) Christian Chaise who arrived in Yemen to report on preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for April 27.
At the meeting, al-Lawzi affirmed the poll would be held on time according to the
constitution. Al-Lawzi also highlighted the security situation in Yemen hailing
achievements the security forces have made cracking down terrorists.
He revealed an intellectual and political plan is under way to overcome all
challenges.
The minister brought up policies to deal with terrorists through dialogue and
rehabilitating them to include them in the Yemeni society.
Chaise was introduced to progress the domestic media made and modernization in
legislations to organize visual, audible and electronic media.
The government will allow more channels in the future al-Lawzi said affirming the
discussion of proposed amendments to the journalism law has been suspended due to
political congestion.
