Yemen to partake in IFAD Governing Council meetings in Rome

SANA'A, Feb. 16 (Saba) - Yemen is to participate in the 32nd round meeting of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)'s Governing Council to be held in the Italian Capital, Rome, on February 18 - 19.

The meeting aims to upgrade Fund resources so as to serve the agricultural
development in the developing countries as well as electing a new chairman of IFAD,
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Abdul Malik al-Thawr made clear.
He pointed out that the meeting will also deal with the fund's future plan according
to the Arab League's economic summit held in Kuwait last January.
On the meeting's sidelines, the IFAD future projects will be discussed related to
the fund's future projects for agricultural development in Yemen, according to the
al-Thawr.
He highlighted that the fund pledged to present an agricultural project for Yemen in
2009 at total a cost of $20 million to support the agricultural development.
