GREEN PACKET EYES TWO WIMAX CONTRACTS OVERSEAS

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Green Packet Bhd aims to secure two WiMAX
(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) contracts in the Middle East
and Taiwan before the end of next month.

Group managing director and chief executive officer Puan Chan Cheong, in
stating this, however did not disclose the value of the contracts.

The company earlier this year was awarded a contract from PCCW, the largest
communications service provider in Hong Kong.

Its WiMAX coverage, which currently extends to 15 percent of the country, is
projected to hit 40 percent by end of 2009 with more than 250,000 subscribers
expected.

Puan said to reach the target, Green Packet planned to have 700 sites by end
of this year from about 220 sites currently.

"The first phase will be rolling out close to 600 sites. This is the US$72
million contract that we awarded to Alcatel-Lucent. We hope to award the second
phase of another 400 sites before end of this quarter," he said.

Another 300 sites will be build next year, Puan said, adding that RM270
million (US$1=RM3.61) will be spent for the first and second phases this year.

Last year, it spent RM170 million to roll out half of the first phase.

On the company's 2008 performance, Puan said it was a loss-making year for
the group due to the start-up costs and investment of Packet One Networks (P1).

"In starting P1, we plan actually to invest up to a total capital
expenditure of RM1 billion for a four-year period. For phase one and two, we
spend RM450 million," he said.

The company is expected to release its 2008 financial results later Monday.

Puan said the group's solution pillar is expected to be profitable before
end of first half this year.

"We have invested a lot in our new products. The solution pillar will turn
profitable in second quarter this year," he said.

"We believe when we reach 250,000 subscribers, the service provider pillar's
earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) will
break even," he added.

Puan also said that the 250,000 subscribers are expected to contribute an
average revenue per user of RM90 each.
