Foreign Ministry: Charge D'affaires Of Iraqi Embassy In Kabul Evacuated. Two Of The Diplomatic Crew Engaged In Automatic Weapons With Terrorists

BAGHDAD, Iraq (NINA) - The Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs announced that the Chargé d'affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in the Afghan capital of Kabul has been evacuated to the Egyptian embassy and attempts have been made to evacuate two of its staff, due to the terrorist operation which resulted the killing of two its Afghan guards. "Two of the diplomatic staff of the Iraqi embassy in Kabul are engaged in automatic weapons with the terrorists who attacked the embassy," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Jamal said in a statement. "Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari is sending a special envoy to Afghanistan to find out the circumstances of the terrorist incident," he said. "He also called the Iraqi charge d'affaires to check on his health." "The Foreign Ministry announced today that the Iraqi embassy in Kabul has been subjected to a terrorist attack." "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following with the responsible Afghan authorities and some friendly countries measures to rescue the embassy staff," Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Jamal said in a statement.
