Seminar promotes ASEAN Foundation's funding flow

Hanoi (VNA) - A seminar was held in the capital city of Hanoi on Feb. 12 to
provide guidelines on the preparations and submission of project proposals for
funding from the ASEAN Foundation and the ASEAN-Japan Solidarity Fund.

The event forms part of the efforts to improve the quality of cooperation projects
under the Initiative of ASEAN Integration (IAI) which aims to narrow the development
gap among member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The ASEAN Foundation was established by ASEAN leaders in December 1997 during the
bloc's 30th Anniversary Commemorative Summit.

Its objectives are to finance the ASEAN countries' cooperation projects and
programmes, and their human resource development and poverty reduction efforts, as
well as bridge their development gap.

The ASEAN group includes Brunei , Cambodia , Indonesia , Laos , Malaysia ,
Myanmar , the Philippines , Singapore , Thailand and Vietnam.-Enditem
