Figures of 20th Gulf Cup untrue, al-Faqih
SANA'A, Feb. 10 (Saba) – Figures of the 20th Gulf Cup Championship
released earlier by the media that Yemen, the host country of the
event, has allocated over $ 300 million are untrue, Tourism minister
said.
Minister Nabil al-Faqih, member of the committee on preparation for
the football tournament, said the figures are exaggerated, urging
the media to exercise maximum accuracy as to what they report.
Al-Faqih said Yemen is enthusiastic to host the sport event,
pointing out that it is doing its best to make it a success.
Earlier, media reports said that the government has allocated $ 300
million as a general budget for the 20th Gulf Cup, which would be
held in 2011 in the two coastal cities of Aden and Abyan in addition
to extra $ 300 million for providing the infrastructure for the
event.
At the end of the 19th Gulf Cup held in Oman during the last month,
Yemen was confirmed as the host country of the next championship.
