DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR OF AUSTRIAN STANDARDS INSTITUTE VISITS AZERBAIJAN STATE COMMITTEE FOR STANDARDIZATION, METROLOGY AND PATENT

Baku, February 10 (AzerTAc). Under the Twinning project (Instrument оf European Neighborhood Policy), Ms Elisabeth Stampfl-Blaha, Deputy Managing Director of the Austrian Standards Institute (lead partner in Twinning consortium) had a meeting at the Azerbaijan State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent.

For the past three years, project experts and specialists of the State Committee
carried out 11 joint missions. The sides currently analyze a number of proposals and
accreditation and certification situation to improve the legislation and bring it in
line with EU requirements.
Twinning is the institutional building instrument based on partnership cooperation
between public administrations of an EU Member State and Azerbaijan, as a
Beneficiary Country. Under Twinning, an EU Member State provides a practitioner in
the implementation of the pieces of the acquis (EU body of legislation) and EU
policies to effect long-term change. The expert, known as a “Resident Twinning
Adviser” (RTA) is seconded from a Member State administration to work full time for
minimum 12 to up to 36 months in the corresponding Azerbaijani line
institution/ministry/agency to help implement an agreed project with targeted goals
and objectives.
