Abdul Ghani affirms ASSECAA strengthens Arab-African ties
SANA'A, Feb. 10 (Saba) - The Chairman of Shura Council Abdul Aziz
Abdul Ghani affirmed on Tuesday the importance of the Association
Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World
(ASSECAA) to strengthen cooperation relations between Arab and
African Worlds.
Abdul Ghani delivered this statement during his meeting with the
President of Swaziland Senate Council Zouan Gilane,
Secretary-General of Sudanese States Council Hassan al-Safi, Saudi
Shura Council Member Saud al-Shammari, Nigerian Senate Council
Member Victor Ejba and the Burundian Senate Council member Laurent
Lahla.
He renewed the intention of ASSECAA state-members to upgrade its
functions and activities to achieve the goals that the association
has been founded for.
He also made clear that the last three years were foundation years
for the Association, affirming that a new phase has begun, when
activating and implementing the ASSECAA's programs for promoting
political and economic relations and other cooperation areas.
He thanked the Swaziland Senate Council President for her decision
to host the association conference in 2010.
He praised the results of the general conferences, consultative
meetings, commission for peace and conflict resolutions meetings as
well as the Chambers of Commerce and Industry meetings between Arab
World and Africa.
Officials and representatives of six Arab and African countries,
members in the ASSECAA, including Yemen are participating in the
meeting of the Association's Committee of Administrative and
Financial bylaws.
The committee's meeting was kicked off here on Tuesday and scheduled
to be concluded next Thursday.
