Transjakarta, Tobacco Commission Launch Anti-Cigarette Campaign
JAKARTA, June 7 (Antara) - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta), tasked with transportation management in the capital city, is working alongside the National Commission for Tobacco Control to launch a public service advertisement themed "Smoking Equals to Burning Money."
As part of the cooperation, PT Transjakarta will put up public service displays on 21 buses aimed at persuading the public to refrain from smoking cigarettes.
"We surely support this cooperation as well as the campaign that urges the public to give up smoking," CEO of PT Transjakarta Budi Kaliwono stated at the City Hall in Central Jakarta, Tuesday.
As of now, he said, only 21 Transjakarta buses have been fitted with displays of the public service campaign.
"All along, we did not merely focus on transportation services; rather, we ensured that we touched on public services as well, which is demonstrated through the campaign," he noted.
Furthermore, he expressed hope that the positive messages displayed on several Transjakarta buses would be able to persuade the public to eventually give up smoking.
Meanwhile, Head of the National Commission for Tobacco Control Prijo Sidipratomo revealed that the launch of the campaign is also in line with the commemoration of World No Tobacco Day.
"Basically, the campaigns are aimed at reminding the people of the losses that they can suffer by smoking cigarettes, as we are basically 'burning our money' by consuming it and that it is wasteful," Sidipratomo stated.
