House Speaker Meets With Chilean Parliamentary Delegation

BAGHDAD, Iraq (NINA) - Iraq has repulsed to terrorism and made great sacrifices to defend global peace and security, Speaker Salim al-Jubouri said. A statement issued by the Information Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives said that Jubouri met today with a delegation from the Chilean parliament headed by MP Ivan Flores Garcia, head of the Chilean-Iraqi Friendship Committee. The meeting discussed the development of bilateral relations and means of opening new horizons of joint cooperation. The speaker stressed Iraq's desire to expand the framework of coordination with Chile, especially at the parliamentary level, in order to cooperate and exchange experiences and find commons through which to achieve bilateral interests, expressing, at the same time, his admiration for the Chilean experience and the great economic development that has been achieved during the past period. "The war against terrorism has reached its final stages and the Iraqis have made great sacrifices to defend world peace and security," Jubouri said, adding "Parliament is continuing to legislate laws that will enhance the democratic experience. For his part, Garcia praised Iraq's efforts in fighting terrorism and the great sacrifices made by the Iraqi people, stressing at the same time his country's keenness to provide all opportunities for cooperation between the two countries and achieve the interests of the two friendly peoples. Garcia handed an official invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, from the President of the Chilean Parliament, and also a bilateral memorandum of understanding was signed between the Parliamentary Friendship Committees for cooperation and exchange of experiences./ End
