The UN Confirms Its Support For Iraq In The Fight Against Daesh

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The United Nations has confirmed its continued support for Iraq in its fight against Daesh. "Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met with the deputy head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), George Boston, who stressed that the United Nations continues to support Iraq in the war against Daesh," A statement the foreign ministry said. The UN official praised the efforts exerted by the Iraqi government to return displaced people to their areas of residence. For his part, al-Jaafari said: "Iraqi forces are advancing in Mosul and are exerting utmost efforts to liberate the remaining areas from the grip of Daesh and provided more sacrifices in order to preserve the lives of innocent citizens and to drive out families trapped by terrorists. Iraq is paying the most expensive thing in wars which is blood that requires the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards a people defends themselves and on behalf of the world. During the meeting, the Foreign Minister hailed "the contribution of the United Nations and its cadres in providing the necessary supplies to Iraq in its war against terrorism, calling on the United Nations to play a greater role in supporting Iraq financially and humanitarianly and to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraqi cities ". He stressed that Daesh threatens all countries without exception and the victory over the terrorist organization in Iraq is a victory for the whole world, stressing the need to fight terrorist ideology by all means, and there should be a global mobilization parallel to the global danger of Daesh because it threatens peace and security in the entire world./ End
