$40mln trade seaport to be set up in Socatra

SANA'A, Feb. 08 (Saba)-Ministry of transport is to carry out a
commercial seaport in Socatra Island at a total cost of $ 40 million
funded by Kuwaiti fund for Development.

In a statement to Saba, the Minister of Transport Ibrahim al-Wazir
said that the concerned bodies in the ministry finalized would
finalize arrangements to announce the international tender during
the first half of 2009 for setting up this project in the island.

All studies and design of the project have been done, he said, the
project would contribute to improve economic development in the
island.

The minister made it clear that the cabinet agreed recently on the
draft decision of the ministry over allocation of the required lands
to construct the project.
