PM attends conference of freedom of expression and offense against
SANA'A, Feb. 07 (Saba)- Prime Minister Ali Mujawar attended on
Saturday a opening session of conference on contemporary media
between freedom of expression and offense against religious in
Sana'a capital.
In the opening session of the conference, Mujawar said that holding
of the conference in Sana'a capital reflects the scientific position
of Yemen and its support for message of Islam as well as protect
Islamic heritage.
Some 200 scholars, intellectuals, and representative of Islamic and
Arab different media outlets are taking part in the conference.
Mujawar said that the Islam is based on justice and equality between
all peoples, adding that Muslims should inform all about Islam and
defend on it.
Message of Islam is international message and without borders, he
said.
He called on all to face all campaigns which target insult against
Islam and Muslims as well as principles of Islam, justice and peace.
The prime minister said that Yemen headed by President Ali Abdullah
Saleh looks at dialogue and mediation as key elements not only for
clarifying real picture of Islam for other world peoples and
religions, but also its message of tolerance.
He highlighted contributions of the Islamic World League to Islam
and Muslims.
He pointed out to the ideas of some western extremists who tried to
damage picture of Islam and its noble principles.
Some of them started to insult prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and they
raised slogan "conflict of civilization" instead of dialogue of
civilizations.
The prime minister affirmed role of the media in reporting real
picture of Islam with clear evidences.
He also pointed out to the negative impacts of terror acts committed
by some groups of the nation which affect the Islam, urging scholars
and media corporations to clearly big difference between Islam and
terrorism as the last has not ties with specific religion or culture.
The conference is organized by Ministry of Endowments and Guidance
in cooperation with the Islamic World League for period from 7th to
9th February.
The objectives of the conference are to clarify media concepts and
its goals, tasks and methods to support values of justice and peace
as well as enhance cultural dialogue between Muslims media men and
the international media institutions in order to work together in
the service of such values.
It is scheduled that the conference would also discuss topics
associated with impacts of freedom of expressions on society and
role of the media to correct wrong ideas about Islam in addition to
responsibility of the governments and international organizations to
prevent insult of religions.AH
