Health Ministry seeks to eliminate neonatal tetanus
SANA'A, Feb. 06 (Saba)- Public Health and the population Ministry is
currently preparing to carry out vaccination campaigns for the
elimination of neonatal tetanus, targeting approximately 2200000
women in 2009.
In a report presented by the Ministry to the 66th Gulf Cooperation
Council Health Ministers' Conference held recently in Sana'a, it
said that a number of anti-tetanus vaccine campaigns had been
carried out in Yemen targeting more than one million women aged
15-45 years over previous years.
"Yemen will also carry out vaccination campaigns against pneumonia
disasters starting from January 2010. The Global Alliance for
Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) will provide annually $15 million
for the campaigns and $ 8 million will be provided by the government
for immunization activities", the Ministry reported.
