-(SPO) TURKEY RUNS TO HOST SUMMER YOUTH OLYMPICS
ANKARA (A.A) - 05.02.2009 - Turkey has applied to host the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games together with five other countries, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced.
2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games will be held in 2014. Other countries that submitted application to the IOC are China, Indonesia, Mexico, Morocco and Poland.
Turkey, Morocco and Mexico have not designated their cities to host the event and asked additional time to submit their candidate cities. IOC extended the deadline to April 1.
IOC confirmed other cities Jakarta (Indonesia), Nanjing (China) and Poznan (Poland).
The committee will announce the host city in February 2010.
1st Summer Youth Olympic Games will be organized in Singapore in August 2010.
