Saudi Arabia To Build Islamic Science Institute In Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh, Apr 12 (Antara) - The government of Saudi Arabia, through the University of Imam Muhammad bin Su'ud, Riyad, will build the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences (LIPIA) Aceh. Rector of the University of Imam Muhammad bin Su'ud Syeikh Sulaiman bin Abdullah Aba Khail stated here on Monday (Apr 10) that the construction of the institute will support the teaching and learning process at LIPIA Aceh. "We hope the Aceh provincial administration would support the construction of LIPIA's campus," the rector noted. LIPIA Aceh, which currently has 194 students, was established in 2007, or 1428 Hijri. The institute is under the management of the University of Imam Muhammad bin Su'ud, Riyad, Saudi Arabia. The rector expressed hope that the institute would train young Muslims to gain mastery of Arabic and Islamic sciences. "We also hope that the graduates of LIPIA Aceh would apply their knowledge for the (betterment of the) people and contribute to the development of Aceh," he affirmed. Meanwhile, Aceh Governor Zaini Abdullah has lauded the presence of the Islamic and Arabic Science Institute in the province. "This educational institution helps Aceh in improving the capacity of its human resources," he said. "The construction of the campus had been planned since a few years ago," Abdullah added.
