Al-Jazeera: West worried about Iran?s scientific advancement
Tehran, Feb 5, IRNA ?
Qatar?s Al-Jazeera TV Network in a commentary aired Wednesday said
some Western countries are expressing worries regarding Iran?s
scientific advancement, particularly Iran?s launching of its ?Omid?
(Hope) satellite into earth orbit.
According to IRNA Audiovisual Monitoring Service, Al-Jazeera
commentator who was reflecting the news on Omid Satellite, added, ?Any
noticeable scientific achievement in Middle East country is
condemnable and unacceptable from Washington?s point of the view,
arguing that this achievement might be turned into a military usage
technology and applied against Israel!?
Al-Jazeera meanwhile noted, ?Keeping in mind the new US
administration?s decision to enter direct talks with Iran rather than
continuing full freeze of ties, it is tough to predict the future of
the West?s approach towards Iran?s file.?
The satellite TV added, ?Iran has declared that the satellite it has
launched into orbit is for peaceful scientific purposes, but some
Western countries say they fear lest this technology would be used for
carrying nuclear weapons.
NATO experts and Israeli military officials, too, believe that Iran,
with this advancement proved it is armed with missiles capable of
aiming targets at Israel and even in southern European countries.?
Al-Jazeera added, ?Iran?s launching of its first indigenous satellite
has broadened the sphere of debates and controversies regarding the
extent of nations? rights for ownership pf advanced scientific
facilities despite the imposed limitations by the West for development
of peaceful technologies.?
