Indonesia's Cultural Diversity Showcased At Film Festival In New York
JAKARTA, Mar 30 (Antara) - Indonesia's cultural diversity is being showcased through three movies at a film festival titled "Finding Indonesia, the Beauty of Heterogeneous Society" at the University of New York, Manhattan, the US.
According to a statement from the Indonesian Film Forum-NY received by Antara here, Wednesday, the screening was held to commemorate National Film Day on March 25, 2017.
The event was organized by the Indonesian Film Forum-NY, the Indonesian Consulate General in New York, the Ministry of Education, and the Creative Economy Agency.
The three films comprised two short movies and a feature-length movie.
The first film titled "Balik Jakarta," or literally "Back to Jakarta," sheds light on the journey of a German in Jakarta who is looking for a house that the person had earlier lived in based only on a photo as a clue.
The second film is full of emotions and depicts a political coup titled "On The Origin of Fear," while the third film titled "Mencari Hilal," or literally "Finding the Lunar," throws light on the relationship between a father and son in an Indonesian Muslim family and who harbor differing views.
The Indonesian films' screening event in New York was organized not only for Indonesians but also for the local people in New York.
These films invite people to seek, identify, explore, and expand their understanding of life in Indonesia.
"Finding Indonesia" provides an insight into Indonesia's wealth, which is its diversity of people, religions, cultures, and ethnicities.
