W Borneo International Bike Camping Launched
PONTIANAK, W Kalimantan, March 23 (Antara) - The Indonesian Association of Hotels and Restaurants of West Kalimantan, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Association of Hotel General Manager, Garuda Indonesia, and a number of other parties have launched the West Borneo International Bike Camping.
Roni Wang, a member of WWF stated here on Wednesday that the cycling event that crosses Pontianak city, Bengkayang district, and Mempawah district will be held from April 28 to 29, 2017 and will involve locals and international participants.
"Our goal is to create a varied attraction while introducing tourism in West Kalimantan, especially on the north coast," he added.
Roni explained that the attractions to be visited during the event include Alun Kapuas Park, Equator monument, Amantubillah Palace, Mempawah Mangrove Park, Ceng Ho Temple(Samp Po Kong), and Ancol Beach.
"The beach and Mimi Land amusement park will be the venue of the peak event in which participants will spend their nights and enjoy various events at the venue. The participants will also conduct mangrove planting at certain locations," he noted.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Hotels and Restaurant of West Kalimantan, Yuliardi Qamal, remarked that at least 300 participants are expected to be present at the event.
"We are inspired by the cycling event in Bromo, East Java, which was successful. We hope Borneo Bike Campaign will be an annual event," he hoped.
