Chinese Governement Provides 197 Scholarships To Indonesia Students

JAKARTA, March 16 (Antara) - Chinese government provides 197 full scholarships for Indonesia's undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students in 2017, the Embassy of People's Republic of China's cultural counselor Zhou Bin said here on Wednesday. "The scholarships will be offered to students in 12 majors, including science, engineering, medical, agronomic, economics, laws, management, history studies, literature, philosophy and arts," Zhuo added when introducing the program at Indonesia's Al Azhar University in Jakarta. Further information has been published in the embassy's official website http://id.hineseembassy.org/eng/whjy/lxxx/, he remarked at the event which was attended by the president of university's Mandarin language center Huang Bin, the deputy Murni Djamal, the university's dean of literary faculty Faisal Hendra, the students, and campus' staffs. "We hope this scholarship could help empower Indonesian students, so they will be the country's valuable asset in the future," Zhuo noted. Since 2015, the Chinese government has committed to provide scholarship for 15 Indonesian students, and the number of scholarship's awardees has increased in 2016 to 187 students. "Indonesia has been an important and strategic partner for China as for these past years, the two countries have cooperated in some development programs, mainly in education and cultural sectors," Zhuo reiterated. Not only scholarship, a student exchange program has been the Chinese government's main focus in Indonesia. At least five hundreds Chinese students take their courses in Indonesia, Zhuo noted. On the other sides, around 14 thousands of Indonesian students have taken their degree in China, he added.
