Mottaki: Hamas should not be ignored in reconstruction of Gaza

Addis Ababa, Feb 3, IRNA - Iran?` Minister of Foreign Affairs said here Monday in a meeting with
Secretary General of Arab League on the sidelines of African Union
Summit that Hamas should not be ignored in the course of
reconstruction of Gaza.

According to IRNA?s dispatched reporter to Ethiopia?s capital city,
Addis Ababa, where the AU Secretariat Office is situated, Manouchehr
Mottaki who was speaking after his meeting with Amr Moussa with the
press reiterated, ?Any decision on Gaza should be adopted at the
presence of Hamas?
The head of Iran?s diplomatic apparatus referring to the AL Sec Gen?s
comments at the beginning of the 12th AU Summit in which he had
condemned the Zionist regimes? criminal acts in Gaza, said that in his
meeting with Amr Moussa both sides had stressed the need for taking
advantage of the Arabic, the Islamic and the international community?s
entire possible contributions and potentials to reconstruct Gaza.
The Iranian foreign minister meanwhile referring to his meetings with
the heads and officials of the African countries on the sidelines of
the summit, said, ?In those meetings the African leaders condemned the
Zionist regime for the criminal acts it has committed recently in Gaza
and voiced their support for the oppressed people of Gaza.?
According to Mottaki, some African presidents also invited President
Ahmadinejad to visit their country, and he, too, on behalf of the IRI
president invited them to visit Tehran.
Mottaki said that during the course of the next few months we would be
the host of some African leaders in Tehran and President Ahmadinejad,
too, would visit some African capitals.
Pointing out the 9th Government?s emphasis on the need to broaden ties
with African countries, he said, ?During the course of the past three
and a half years Iran?s economic diplomacy towards African countries
has become a lot more active.?
Mottaki referred to the need to introduce the opportunities and
potentials of Africa to the Iranian private sector, adding, ?During
the course of the next 12 to 18 month we would be witnesses to taking
long strides in that respect.?
Mottaki then reminded the present reporters at the press conference
that the Western and neocolonialist countries try to present a
negative image of Africa to the world nations, reiterating, ?That is
while they try to exploit the rich resources of this continent?s
nations maximally themselves at shortest possible time.?
The Iranian top diplomat referring to the trend of developments at the
12th AU Summit, said, ?Africa has broad potentials and is faced with
great threats, which can be solved relying on grater proximity among
African nations and governments.?
He said that great initiatives were put forth at the summit, adding,
?Some countries? leaders believe the global economic crisis cannot be
solved relying on efforts made merely by 20 countries, since all world
countries cooperation is needed to ward off the negative effects of
the world wide crisis.
