Patient chokes to death chewing Qat in Dhamar

DHAMAR, Feb. 02 (Saba) - A man has choked to death while chewing Qat
that his wife smuggled into a hospital in Dhamar province.

The patient was admitted to the hospital two dies before the
incident for a heart disease.

Despite doctors warned the patient not to chew Qat, his wife, being
unaware of the effect of this on her husband's health and upon his
order could smuggle Qat into the hospital.

Medical sources at the hospital said the man died after some chewed
Qat entered into his trachea.

Attempts to save him failed as his health with the heart disease was
starting to get better.

Choking to death on chewing Qat rarely happens among Yemeni people,
most of whom exercise the Qat chewing custom almost daily.
