Rajnath asks Assamese to help oust infiltrators

Guwahati, Jan 31 (PTI) Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh Saturday urged the Assamese people to pressurise both the central and state governments to oust Bangladeshi infiltrators from state as the root cause of socio-economic crisis in the region is infiltration.

"I urge all Assamese, irrespective of Hindus, Muslims or
any community, to all get together and put pressure on the
government to oust the infiltrators in the country's
interest," Singh told reporters at the capital of the north
eastern Indian state of Assam.

Despite a Supreme Court directive, the Congress
government has taken no step for their detection, deletion
from the voters list and their deportation, Singh said.

"Now an elected government has come in Bangladesh and
the Government of India should chalk out plans for deporting
the infiltrators," Singh said.

"The socio-economic problem of the region has increased
due to infiltration and the BJP demands updating of National
Register of Citizens, issuance of multi-purpose identity cards
and installation of Foreigners Tribunal," he added.

Singh also urged regional parties to fight against
infiltration unitedly as the problem cannot be solved by
Congress or parties having alliance with the Congress. "The
BJP is trying to unite all regional parties and talks are at
an advanced state with the Asom Gana Parishad," he said.

He described the Congress as the most communal party as
it has divided Indian democracy on the lines of caste, creed
and religion. PTI ESB
