Presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan to be held on 19 November 2017

Bishkek, Feb. 15 / Kabar /. Presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan are scheduled to be held on 19 November 2017. This became known during today’s meeting of President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev with chairwoman of the Central Commission for Elections Nurjan Shaildabekova, the Kyrgyz President's press service reported. During the meeting the head of state was informed about the current activities of the CEC and the measures taken to further improve the country's electoral system. Shaildabekova said that based on the analysis of the previous elections the CEC shall take all necessary measures to eliminate the shortcomings and further improve the work on the organization of electoral processes. President Atambayev stressed the special importance of the forthcoming elections. "It is necessary to eliminate all shortcomings and omissions in the work and ensure fully open and fair elections. Only free and fair elections provide legitimacy and ensure stability in the country," Atambayev said. President Almazbek Atambayev’s presidential term ends in December 2017. Three candidates already declared officially their intentions to run for presidency: former Prime Minister Temir Sariev, leader of Respublika-Ata-Jurt faction of the Kyrgyz Parliament Omurbek Babanov and leader of Onuguu Progress faction Bakyt Torobaev. http://kabar.kg/eng/news/gg-1/
