Iran has always played constructive role in Afghanistan

Kabul, Jan 28, IRNA - Spokesman of Afghan Government Homayoon Hamidzadeh said on Tuesday that Iran has always played a constructive role in Afghanistan.

Speaking to reporters, he said the role of Iran in dealing with
nationwide challenges in Afghanistan is of prime importance.

Iran has played an active role in implementing various economic and
development projects while hosting millions of Afghan war refugees
during three decades of devastating war in the country, he underlined.

Referring to historical, cultural and religious commonalties between
the two Muslim states, he said the two sides' relations are based on
regional cooperation, good neighborliness and mutual respect.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has granted dlrs 300 million in
humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and has vowed to grant additional
amount of money to broaden economic relations between the two
countries, he said.

He maintained that existing problems and challenges in Afghanistan
have roots in current problems in the region.

He also strongly condemned the military onslaught of foreign troops in
Afghanistan which have taken lives of many innocent civilians.
